Third Countries

Data Sharing | ProvePrivacy | Article Image 44

Third country is defined within the terms of the EEA Agreement and is defined as any country (or territory) outside of the EEA. ‘Third country’ is specifically defined under the UK GDPR as a country or territory outside the UK.

A third country will require that additional safeguards in place before personal data can be transferred to it, unless it has been recognised as having adequate data protection regulation in place.

How can ProvePrivacy Help?

ProvePrivacy maintains a list of countries and ensures that adequate countries are kept up to date, this way a Data Champion will be promted for additional safeguards only if the country is a third country.
